Cancer Acupuncture: I have cancer, what should I do?

Discovering that you have cancer can be an incredible shock, accompanied by fear and uncertainty. 'What should I do?', is a question often asked with worry about what lies ahead.

You may ask:

'Why ME?!'

'My children are still very young, who's going to look after them?'

'I've not enjoyed my life yet, there's still a lot of things I want to do'

'My parents needs someone to be look after'

'Who's going to provide for my family?'

'How long am I going to live?'

'I don't want to suffer, I'm afraid of pain'  ... etc.

This is why having good communication with your oncologist and other health care providers is so very important. It is important to know exactly what the next step is in treatment, to know what the success rates are and how likely remission is. What are latest treatment procedures and protocols and most importantly, how you can take back some control of your health and feel empowered to make good decisions to get well again.

Patients often tell me that they feel helpless during the initial stage of their cancer diagnosis. They are often poorly informed by their doctors,  pushed to do tests, tests, and more tests and not able to have much say regarding their treatment. Cancer has became a heavily loaded word that is often associated with death. But statistically and clinically we know that this is not the case for everyone. With early diagnosis, treatment, and extended care and support during remission there can be a high chance of recovery.

So you have a cancer diagnosis, there is a lot you can do to help get yourself better. Start by taking a deep breath, take a step back and look forward to the other side of your cancer. Here at Blue Sky Clinic we help patients develop a positive outlook, to be calm and to take control of their mind and body, which no doubt helps to achieve better results for your treatment.

Cancer Acupuncture Support

Hi everyone, Thank you once again for visiting our website Cancer Acupuncture.

My name is Dr Anni Chien, and I'm a doctor of Chinese medicine at Blule Sky Clinic in Canberra. My main area of interest is Cancer Support treatment alongside patients undergoing conventional cancer treatment or for patients who are in remission. Let me introduce a little more about myself.

Both Dr Perry, the clinic director and I were trained at RMIT University in Melbourne with clinical experience in a large teaching hospotal in China as well as in the emergency department of the Northern Hospital in Melbourne.

My interest in cancer support treatment originated from personal experience when my mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2007. She underwent surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and medication for the next 3 years.

Chinese Medicine has helped her a lot post surgery, during chemotherapy, and following treatmen into remission. The side effects from the various cancer treatments were reduced, she recovered quicker and had a more positive outlook on the treatment process.

Many patients whom I have observed during my internship as well as in the Blue Sky Clinic gain a positive outlook and assurance while noticing improvement in their health during and after treatment. We use acupuncture and herbal medicine to help strengthen the body after each round of chemotherapy to help the body recover faster.

So if you are receiving treatment or are about to commence cancer treatment we would highly recommend you consider cancer acupunture to provide much needed support during your cancer treatment.

If you have any further questions or would like to make as appointment please contact us at the clinic on (02) 6162 4950 or visit us at www.blueskyclinic.com.au
